Cookie Policy
Last updated: 15 August 2026
Short version: Nothing but the essentials runs until you choose. Analytics and advertising cookies are set to denied by default for every visitor, in every country. You can change your mind at any time — .
What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser and sends back on later requests. Related technologies — localStorage and sessionStorage — also store data in your browser, but unlike cookies they are never transmitted with a request. This policy covers all of them.
Most of what Braxik stores is localStorage, not cookies. That matters: a value in localStorage stays on your device and is read only by JavaScript running on this site.
Categories We Use
- Strictly necessaryNeeded for the site to work — your theme, your cookie choice, staying signed in. These cannot be switched off, and under both the GDPR and India's DPDP Act they do not require consent.
- AnalyticsTell us which tools are used and which are not. Off until you accept.
- AdvertisingLet Google select and measure the ads that fund the site. Off until you accept.
Strictly Necessary
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
dti-consent | localStorage | Stores your cookie choice so the banner stops asking. | Until cleared |
dti-theme | localStorage | Remembers light or dark mode. | Until cleared |
dti-tool:* | localStorage | Keeps your last input in a tool across a refresh. | Until cleared |
dti-pending-save | localStorage | Holds work you asked to save while you sign in. | Session |
dti:auth-sync | localStorage | Keeps sign-in state consistent across tabs. | Session |
Session cookie | Cookie | Keeps you signed in, if you have an account. | Session |
Note the first row: your cookie choice itself has to be stored somewhere, or the banner would reappear on every page. It is kept in localStorage rather than a cookie precisely so that recording your refusal does not itself require consent.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which tools get used. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and IP addresses are anonymised by Google before processing.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another. | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for a property. | 2 years |
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's browser add-on.
Advertising
Braxik is funded by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
__gads | Google AdSense | Ad selection and frequency capping. | 13 months |
__gpi | Google AdSense | Ad personalisation and measurement. | 13 months |
IDE | doubleclick.net | Measures ad effectiveness. | 13 months |
test_cookie | doubleclick.net | Checks whether the browser supports cookies. | 15 minutes |
Opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, or across many vendors at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org. Google's own description of how it uses cookies in advertising is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
How Consent Is Applied
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Before any Google script loads, the page declares four signals — ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage — all set to denied. If you have previously accepted, the stored choice is replayed immediately so nothing is lost on a return visit.
When you accept, an update is sent and Google's scripts begin using storage. When you refuse, they continue to run in a cookieless mode that sets no identifiers.
Managing Your Choice
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately. Cookies already set by Google are cleared by your browser according to their own expiry — you can remove them sooner using the browser controls below.
Browser-Level Controls
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data directly:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking strictly-necessary storage will make parts of the site forget your theme and your cookie choice, but no tool will stop working — they run without any stored state.
